Exostar’s Managed Microsoft 365™ provides a secure, trusted cloud-based environment for DoD contractors to collaborate and safeguard Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), meeting 85 out of 110 NIST SP 800-171 controls out-of-the-box.

Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) 2.0 is a cybersecurity framework required by the DoD to protect CUI.

To be eligible for a DoD contract, any organization involved in the supply chain, including subcontractors or other derived funding, must comply with one of CMMC 2.0’s three-tiered maturity levels once put into effect. Your contractual obligations determine your maturity level.

In 2020, the DoD announced a 5-year phase-in period under DFARS. In 2021, CMMC went through a public comment period, and an updated program was released, “CMMC 2.0.” CMMC 2.0 is under rule-making in 2023. CMMC 2.0 will be a contractual requirement when the rulemaking process is complete. Note: If your company has contracts that require DFARS 7012 clause, then you must comply with NIST 800-171; these controls align with CMMC 2.0 requirements.
